Erotic Romance Written by Sayde Grace

The Bucking Chute

Nod your head, hang on tight, and let's blog!

Hello everyone! So the last few weeks I’ve been doing a lot of career planning. My youngest child will be ready for Pre-K within the year and I’ve been wondering if I should send him to daycare early and get a job. As a stay at home mom I sometimes get the urge to go get a job just so I have a conversation with an adult other than my husband and my mother, not that I don’t love them both but still.

But then if I did go through with it when would I write? As it is I’m very limited now with my three-year old becoming pure BOY!! Mischief all the time! So I began really thinking about my writing career. I enjoy writing novella’s but I haven’t had much success with my full length novels which are paranormals and not my wickedly wild cowboys.

But today I have news that I owe to several people. Let me just give a HUGE shout out to Rebecca Z. for sticking with my paranormal stories and always telling me they’re good no matter what I think. And for always reminding me why my cowboy stories seem so much stronger(which let me just say she LAUGHED at me but she did make it clear to me ). Then I need to give a HUGE FREAKIN thank you to Jillian Chantal(SFCATTY!!!) for telling me to send to her publisher as she’d love to have me as a sister in the publishing house.

Friday night, Saturday early morning I hit the send button on my email thinking that in two months I’d get a generic rejection on my Urban Fantasy that has kicked my rear-end. I was getting ready to get my daughter from school yesterday and saw I had an email on my phone. I clicked the little button and began reading, “Thank you for sending us UNTAMABLE, we really enjoyed it.” Now here is where my eyes glazed over because all my rejections on this story start this way and end in “while the story is strong and the characters are terrific we just feel that it’s missing something.”

So I got in my Tahoe and began driving down my driveway when I picked my phone back up and decided to read the entire email. It went like this, “BLAH BLAH BLAH, you’re publication date will be….” I stopped the truck and went WTF ?? Rejections don’t include publication dates. “April 2011 and print in September 2011.” WHAT?????

After closing my mouth and shaking my head I realized I’d just been offered a contract for the urban fantasy that I’d almost given up on, well to be honest I had given up on it. I’d decided to send it two more times then put it to bed for good. Siren Publishing has offered and I’ve accepted! I’m thrilled to be a fellow Siren author with Jillian. Thank you so much for encouraging me to send to them! I never share news until I have signed the contract but this time I actually did get excited after I sent the editor my answer! LOL, I think it drives my friends crazy when I get good news and I just shrug and say “Yeah, I’m happy.” So I guess now I’m at a point where I can say, “Yes, I’m an author.” YAY, maybe that’s what I’m really excited about! Who knows.

Thank you ladies for all your support and I hate to do this but I imagine on Thursday or Friday I will be interrupting our regularly scheduled programing for a smaller announcement. OH OH I almost forgot, THE HARDER THEY BUCK is a featured title on BookStrand and is currently ranked 51 in their best sellers list! YAY!

Hello everyone! Hope you all are doing well! I’m trying to, I’m trying to do as the preacher said, no worries leave everything in the hands of the lord. The Harder They Buck

Hello everyone! WOW it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. I am making a goal to post at least twice a week on my blog! I will follow through with this goal, I swear. For today I’m introducing you all to my new release which is due out on my October 22.

My second book in the Cowgirl Tough Series is The Harder They Buck which will be released October 22, 2010

October 22, 2010 from The Wild Rose Press

WARNING: This book contains the use of whips, ropes, and handcuffs by one sexy cowboy looking to win the ride of his life.

Raised by parents who don’t believe in affection, Melanie Brantley developed a hard-edged outlook on life…and love. But then along comes a cowboy who makes her blood boil, and not only with anger. A fact that scares the hell out of her. Enough that she seeks solace at Minx, a club that caters to the more carnal pleasures.

After recovering from a bull ride gone wrong, Lance Wright is ready to move forward and he’s set his sights on Melanie. Her temper tells him all he needs to know about the passion he’d find in her bed. The wildcat fights him every step of the way, but she’s in for a surprise. The harder Melanie bucks, the more Lance wants to ride.

The alarm on Melanie’s cell phone vibrated, thank god. She’d stayed the hour and a half she’d promised. Time to get the heck outta here.

“Someone important?” Lance’s low voice whispered behind her.

Melanie tensed. She’d been just about to run for the hills. “Kinda. What do you want?” She turned and stared at him. His deep brown hair was half hidden under his black cowboy hat, and his long sleeved orange and white plaid shirt stood out in a sea of red and green shirts. His eyes danced with mischief, and she fought not to dance with them. One thing she did love was a guy to play with, and Lance was always ready to play.

“I’m glad you invited your sister up for the holidays. She’s nice. I was worried when Billie said she was coming up.” He smirked. “It’s hard enough around here with you, but I sure didn’t need another woman threatening me with bodily harm.”

“Leave my baby sister alone,” she nearly growled.

“Can’t do that—unless you’d like to take her place. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings a bit if you’d hold off on hurting me to go out with me, at least once.” He leaned close, his spicy cologne filling her nose and setting her on path to sure destruction. “All that passion you have, I can help you put it to good use.” He nipped her ear.

She wanted to lean into him, to press her body against his and do just what he’d said. Yes, she knew he’d use her passion to drive her to the brink of madness, and what was more, if she let him, she would drive herself further. There was something about Lance Wright that upped her emotions. Never before had a man stirred such hate and love. She’d always heard the line between love and hate was thinly veiled, and standing so close to Lance, feeling his body heat against hers, she knew it was the truth.

I hope you all enjoyed the little blurp and if you’d like a taste of The Harder They Buck, the first in the Cowgirl Tough Series is already out, Riding Double is available with The Wild Rose Press now.

Characters on Strike

All right so I admit to being a slacker. I have no problems admitting that but I am a fast writer. That is what gets me by. I can write a story fast as you please, well most of the time. In January of this year I was contracted for my book Riding Double. I knew within a month after that, that I was going to write two more short stories for that series and hopefully pick up some additional characters to write about. So for months I’ve known that I had this one book I had to write, no ifs ands or buts about it. My character has to have this book written about her. But I’ve written the first three chapters for her over and over and over until now I’m at the point where I should have already turned the story in but don’t have it written. In fact I’m so far behind on it I’m kinda stressing.

My critique partner believes that I can pull it off. She says that I’m too worried about the sexiness in this one. Which I guess is true, but at the same time I’m really really worried about the emotions. This character is very very far gone. The love of her life died three years earlier and she hasn’t gotten over it and she was mentally all right with that. I mean not really, but she was doing just fine. Then her body takes one look at a certain cowboy and oh boy, she can’t stop the dreams she’s having about him the lust whipping inside her, nor the desire to admit it all to him. But somewhere along the way she has to move past her ex, but how? WHen? I haven’t got a clue. So I’m writing this, hoping my inspiration will come back to me. I’m at 6500 and need to be at 25k by the end of the month! I need inspiration!

What do you all do for inspiration?

Shout Out for Story Time

hello everyone! I just wanted to do a quick shout out that I am guest blogging today at I am asking commentors to finish the story for me. It’s a very fun little exercise to help you get your creative juices flowing. And I’m giving away a free copy of Riding Double so come add a sentence or two to the paragraph and tell me why my hero can’t and won’t go after the woman he loves 🙂

All right everyone go forth and get those creative rivers flowing!

One Start, Two Starts, Three

Hello everyone! I’m running a bit late this morning but I’m here. The hubby is off for 7days! 7 whole days! That’s exciting and terrifying at the same time!! But anyhow, today I’m reading the first three chapters of a book I started Thursday. I have so many things going on and none of them truly complete. What I should be working on is my third cowgirl book which is halfway done. I need it done and turned into my editor within the month so I can stay on the schedule I gave myself. Is it going to happen? I just don’t know. Nothing seems to be going right with that book. I’ve started and stopped and restarted it several times now. In all honesty if I added up all the words I’ve written then deleted then written again on it I’d have a full length trade market size book! But nothing seems to be just the way I want it.

Galleys, the list goes on

Hello everyone! I’ve been absent the last few days from the blog but with good reason. I just celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary and I’ve been in edits for two books. And my critique partner, the lovely Rebecca Zanetti talked me into rewriting an old story I have because she’s in love with the hero from that book 🙂 I kinda like him too but my plate is full at the moment so I don’t know if I’ll work too much on his story.

But today I’m going over galleys for the second book in my Cowgirl Tough series The Harder They Buck. What are galleys? Well in my case they are the final edits(look overs) of the manuscript put into production format. This is the final step before publication. What I do is go over each line to make sure everything flows right in the paragraph in the new format, words are not back to back, etc. For example I’m reading a scene now where my hero’s dad is talking to the heroine and he says “I hope you’ll go easy on this old,” and thats it. It should be “I hope you’ll go easy on this old man.” Now as a reader finding these little uh oh’s drive me insane cause they snatch me from the book and story. To correct this I’ve got to use the following formula as these are in a format I can’t just fix.

Problem(type it as it appears, word for word):

Solution(type exactly what you wish to be used):

So today I’m trying to make sure my readers will not be jerked away from my story and I hope to have these finished today! Still just waiting on my cover so I can post it!

Have a great weekend everyone and ROLL TIDE BABY! Have I ever mentioned I LOVE football season? I love it so much I might just have to write a story about an Alabama football player!

Half Way There

Hello everyone. Today is Wednesday, the half way point of the week. So far this week I’ve sent out a few queries for my urban fantasy, wrote a new chapter for my third short story in my Cowgirl Tough series with The Wild Rose Press, measured and sent the picture of a riding crop to my editor, and played with some stories I have going. It sounds like I’ve done a lot but it feels like I haven’t done enough! Also this week my good friend Jillian Chantal received her “First” romance contract for her novella Solo Honey Moon with Siren Publishing! Congrats to Jillian. On the down side though, a legendary cutting horse Smart Little Lena was put to sleep on Monday after suffering a stroke. This horse was on of a few great stallions who has brought the National Cutting Horse Association and National Reining Horse Association champion after champion. Smart Little Lena was thirty-one and here is a video of him. Now there are lots of horses out there who are terrific and my personal taste runs toward the short stocky, thick horses that are made for working on the ranch more than showing in the arena. The horse named Doc O Lena is one of my favorite built horses. In this video you will see trainer Bill Freeman riding a few different horses but the sorrel he rides the most is Smart Little Lena(also the horse let loose) I hope you enjoy.
